Connect your TV, get comfortable, and find an answer.

Connect your TV

After the introduction, start with one TV free for 5 minutes a day, without an account or purchase. Pro removes the TV and daily time limits. Use only a TV and network you are authorised to control.

  • Turn on the TV and connect it and your phone to the same local network. Wi-Fi and Ethernet can be combined if the devices can reach each other.
  • Open the TV picker. Select a discovered TV or enter its local IP address and choose the matching system. A brand name alone does not identify a remote protocol.
  • Follow the pairing method shown: approval on the TV, PIN or the credentials configured on your own TV. For LG webOS, approve the connection request; some models require a PIN. Never publish pairing credentials.
  • Try a supported direction or volume control. Save the TV for later and choose automatic reconnection if desired.

My TV does not appear

Check that the TV is on and that both devices are on the same local network. Guest Wi-Fi, router device isolation, or a VPN can prevent devices from reaching each other. Try your regular home network; do not expose the TV to the internet or configure port forwarding.

On iPhone, allow uRemote access to the local network in system Settings. If discovery is unavailable, try entering the TV’s local IP address manually. After changing a network or permission, retry the connection. A saved IP address may change when the router restarts.

Pairing is stuck or was rejected

Keep the TV screen visible and accept its connection request. You can cancel a pending attempt and try again. If an earlier pairing no longer works, use the saved TV’s menu to forget that TV, then connect again. The TV may also have its own list of authorised mobile devices.

“Remove saved connections” in Settings removes all saved pairings from the phone. Use the individual TV menu when you only want to remove one device. Turning on automatic reconnection lets uRemote try the last successfully connected TV when appropriate; it does not turn a switched-off TV on.

Beta compatibility and controls

There are 13 implemented protocol families: LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, Android TV / Google TV Remote v2, Roku ECP, Sony BRAVIA IRCC/REST, Philips JointSpace, Panasonic VIERA NRC, Fire TV Lightning, Vizio SmartCast, Vestel Smart Center, older Hisense VIDAA MQTT, LG NetCast and older Samsung Orsay TCP55000. They remain beta: protocol and interface tests do not establish compatibility with physical TV models. Match your television’s system and firmware before purchasing.

Excluded: newer VIDAA requiring manufacturer credentials, Titan without compatible JointSpace or Smart Center, encrypted Samsung H/J, unverified Fire TV Vega variants, a full Apple TV remote, infrared and universal wake-up. A TV without a supported network API cannot be controlled by Wi-Fi software alone.

Functions depend on the adapter and TV. Android TV Remote v2 has no app list; Panasonic has no keyboard or app list; Fire TV does not provide channel, volume or power commands here. Vizio’s supported-app catalog is fetched online and filtered locally. Text entry requires a compatible active text field. HDMI set-top-box control is not guaranteed.

A Pro purchase does not make an unsupported TV compatible. Turn on a powered-off television with its physical control or original remote before connecting.

Media and system screen mirroring

uRemote does not select, play or send local video or audio files on iOS or Android. The app does not offer background media playback.

System screen mirroring depends on your phone and TV and is controlled through your phone’s operating system, outside uRemote. uRemote does not itself capture or broadcast the screen. DRM-protected streaming content and subscriptions are not included.

Appearance, language and privacy

Choose Auto, Dark or Light in Settings; Auto follows the system. You can change haptics, reconnection and language. The app supports 20 languages: English, Polish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, Turkish, Swedish, Romanian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

Optional Firebase analytics and crash reports are off by default. “Help improve uRemote” controls both. Purchase checks operate separately from this switch.

See the privacy policy for details.

Free access, Pro and restored purchases

Use one selected TV free for a shared 5 minutes per local calendar day. Supported buttons, gestures, keyboard, favorites and TV apps are included within that allowance. Time counts while the app is active in the foreground, connected to a TV and showing the remote or TV apps screen. Searching, pairing, Settings and time in the background do not count. After the limit, controls pause until the next day, while the device list, Settings and purchase options remain available. Pro removes the one-TV and daily time limits through a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. If Pro expires, saved TVs and pairings remain; free access returns to one selected TV and the daily allowance. Cancellation, pending payment or a store error does not activate Pro or remove the remaining free allowance.

Only offers shown by the app and confirmed by your store are available. Review the price, period and included access before purchasing. If offers do not load, retry with an internet connection. Remote-control compatibility cannot be added by restoring or buying a plan.

Use “Restore purchases” with the same store account used for the purchase. Apple and Google purchases do not automatically transfer between platforms. To manage a subscription, use Apple’s subscription settings or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
